How do I calculate how much sod/soil I need?

Sod Calculations:

Square or Rectangle Area = length x width

Circle Area = 3.14 (pi) x R²

Triangle Area = base x height divided by 2

Trapezoid Area = base 1 + base 2 divided by 2 x height

For irregular areas: as best as you can, divide the area into sections of regular geometric shapes, calculate the area of each section, then total.

Topsoil Calculation:

1 yd³ covers approximately 100 ft² at 3" depth.

How far in advance do I need to order?

Delivery

Please order approximately 3-4 days in advance for delivery. All of our trucks carry truck mounted forklifts, which are able to unload the sod and place it where it is needed providing there is room to get there. We deliver on a daily basis into Lethbridge and area. On select days we also deliver to all rural Southern Alberta communities as well as Calgary, BC, and Saskatchewan.

Pick up

Please order 1 day in advance for pick ups. Sod will be available at our convenient Coaldale location, 1 km west of Coaldale on Hwy 3.

 

What kind of vehicle do I need to pick up sod?

• a half ton carries approximately 500 ft²
• a 3/4 ton carries approximately 700 ft²
• pallets are 4 ft x 4 ft, cover 700 ft² and weigh about 2500 lbs
